Two boys who look nothing alike, not in physical stature, not in facial features. Two boys who act nothing like each other, one petite and strong, every ounce of his wiry frame solid muscle, which he uses with advanced coordination of a child beyond his age. The other sports a belly, his pudgy cheeks rise and fall as he talks, tripping over his own shadow. Their personalities often clashing, their preferences never coinciding… but there is one thing that draws them together. They are brothers. In an orphanage you are close with everyone, and in a sense you have many “brothers" but the blood bond of a brothers who were together before they arrived at our gates… is steady and strong. They protect each other. They comfort each other, like no one else can. They share every belonging they have, no matter how precious. They belong to one another and they know it with every breath they take, and the show it with every decision they make.
Big brother sits with on a short wicker chair back to the wall just having finished school for the day, his eyes roaming the yard as he watches the 3 year olds run around the play set. His eyes stop, they fix on one form in particular… Samy. Samy had not yet realized that his big bro had gotten out school. But as though he could feel the eyes on his back, he turned to meet Widley’s gaze, a smile breaking out on both faces at the same moment. No hesitation in Samy’s stride as he made his way over to the chair beside Widley. No words exchanged, he sat down next to his most trusted friend, only 2 years his senior, and laid his head in peaceful relaxation on Widley’s lap. As to protect and comfort in one tiny touch, Widley lifted and placed his hand on his baby brothers shoulders. Neither moved, neither talked, neither could be happier than in that moment with each other.
