Hello from the Nursery,
The NICU has been very busy for the past 24hrs GLA. We’ve received two sick babies for assistance. Our first baby we received yesterday, I will call him K. He is about 5 months old and from an orphanage near by. Per our doctor and an x-ray, he is fighting what seems to be some sort of bronchiolitis. He vital signs are stable and is not requiring any oxygen but has a bit of course breathing. We are currently treating him with strong antibiotics and nebulizer treatments around the clock. Please pray that this respiratory infection clears up quickly!
Our other baby that we received today is from Cité Soleil and was referred to us by Samaritan’s Purse. Her name is Christina and she is just eight days old. From assessment she seems to be just a few weeks premature and weighs 3lb 3 oz. Her mother passed away after child birth and her aunt has been caring for her. From what we understand Christina has had a fever since she was born and today her aunt decided to give her a “chunk” of aspirin, unfortunately we do not know how much and she is presenting with blood in her stool. Thankfully, at the current time she is in no respiratory distress. She is currently being treating with IV hydration, antibiotics, and medications to stop the bleeding in her tiny stomach. Unfortunately she is not out of the woods as they say but she is definitely a fighter. Please pray that our beautiful Christina responds to the treatment and she is able to fight off any infection and recover. She will need to spend a lot of time with us before she is able to go home. We must get her healthy, strong and put some weight on her!
This is the beautiful Christina
So, as you lift this two precious little children up to the Lord, please also pray for the nurses and nannies caring for them. We all work hard to have these children go from just surviving to thriving.
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
