A Christmas Party With a Reason
I received this e-mail on Tuesday and wanted to share it with you (with their approval of course):
Long time no see!
I have a donation of $190.00 written out to God's Littlest Angels. My uncle wrote the check and would like a tax receipt. Nothing was put in the memo line. He left it open for the fact that I told him to and would talk to you as to where specifically the funds could be used at this time.
I/we trust you with where the need is at. We would like to hear from you where it goes, so if you could email me that info I'd/we'd appreciate it.
Let me explain how this donation came about:
This past Friday night we had the family Christmas party (my mom's side of the family). My aunt and uncle are very mission minded and were in charge of the party this year. Everyone was given a wrapped gift and the whole family played a "Christmas Story Left Right" game. At the end of the game, my uncle challenged everyone (specifically the little ones) that when they opened their gift, they had the option to keep the money that was in the envelope portion, or bring the money to the table and it would be given to a reputable organization in need--specifically Haiti. My uncle had asked me to briefly speak about my times in Haiti before the game began...he had pictures on a slide show from my trip back in 2009.
Anyway, it was interesting to hear from the little ones when they opened their envelopes of money: "Ooooh man! This is a tough decision!" "I don't know what to do!"
"Can we give half and keep the other half?" "Do you have change?" "Can I put it in the offering plate at church?"
So out of however much money my aunt and uncle had wrapped in almost 50 envelopes, the money back to missions was 190.00 dollars worth! I thought it a fun game and a fun way to plant the seed to the little ones.
My uncle had asked if I would be the one to decide on an organization of choice. My head kept saying God's Littlest Angels. I don't know why, but God does.
I will give my parents the check tonight and they will put it in your church mailbox by Sunday.
If you could let me know where specifically you feel the money will go so we can then inform the extended family, and
If you could send a tax receipt to my Uncle that would be great!! (His address is on the check).
Hope all is well with you and yours! Have a blessed Christmas!
