I had a breakfast meeting with a friend of mine yesterday. We're working on some things that will introduce the possibility of giving through estate planning and the difference that could make for GLA. I will keep you informed as things progress on that - if you want to talk about it in the mean time, let me know.
In getting caught up on the rest of life, I was telling him what we're working on in terms of the 500 boxes of diapers to send down to GLA. He was floored at how much more expensive diapers are in Haiti. His response, when I was telling him, was, "Well, looks like we have to get the diapers here if they are that much more expensive."
Then he said, "How in the world are you going to get the diapers? 500 boxes, that's a LOT of diapers."
My response, "Well, it's fun (not funny) that you asked. I'm working on some other ideas but the simplest idea can be described in 5 words."
"A Trip To The Store."
That's it. If every one of our supporters spent $25 extra on diapers every time they went to Walmart or Target or Sam's Club or Costco (either actual diapers or gift cards) and sent them to my office, we'd have them in no time.
I believe that most of us could afford an extra $25 at the store every time when we went to one of those stores. Could you?
Thanks for your help,
P.S. The address to send them to is our Michigan office:
