After two weeks of silence…
It has taken two weeks for me to feel better. I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow and I will see if the kidney infection is finally completely gone! I ran a fever for over 11 days and did not really start feeling good until Wednesday of this week. Finally, I started to have whole days where I felt good!
Now, today is the first day I have finally been hungry and felt like cooking. I made BBQ Chicken wings on the grill with rice and beans and my wonderful Haitian red sauce! Man, I have missed home cooking and especially Haitian cooking. So far I have not gotten sick from eating today and I hope I am finally on the road to being completely well. I want to thank everyone for the prayers and kind emails. I enjoyed reading them all.
I wanted to tell you about the fundraiser in Colorado. I know it was 2 weeks ago but I just have not felt up to writing before today. The event was great. Gery Schubert, the comedian who was the MC, did a great job as always. He is so funny and made us all laugh throughout the night. Gery has been the MC for GLA fundraisers both here in the USA and Canada on six different occasions. We love him and the characters that he does during the fundraisers.
We also had Matthew Huff perform some of his music after the meal. I know a lot of people enjoyed his music very much and we really appreciate that Matthew volunteered his time and talents to help GLA raise funds for Haiti.
I am also thankful that my mother and sister came from Illinois and Florida to attend the fundraiser. John’s sister, Julie and her husband, Andy, also came from Georgia. Tom Vanderwell came from Michigan to help with the computer system and registration during the fundraiser. Dr. Claude Louis also came from New Jersey and then returned to Haiti after the fundraiser.

Here are some photos of the evening. Next time, come join us and have lots of fun with us! The theme was the Academy Awards and Richard Simmons (Gery Schubert) made a surprise appearance. Even John got to go on stage and perform!
