GLA’s Annual Report which we send to IBESR since 2010, is finally done and ready to go! Everyone here at GLA in our office had a hand in getting the documents together, writing up stories about the kids, writing up policies, getting contracts with our different agencies together, etc. It was much more involved this year but we put together a beautiful report!
Magaly took it to IBESR today because they gave us a deadline of 30 September and they refused to take it. Said they weren’t taking them until 1st of October, when the new fiscal year begins!
The report consists of a large notebook of documents along with a dossier for each child at GLA. It takes up a cardboard box!
But at least it’s done now and ready to go and it’s beautiful with lots of photos of the children in it!!
IBESR MEETING ABOUT ADOPTION POLICY
IBESR had a meeting for all of the adoption homes in Haiti on Tuesday the 25th of September. In this meeting, they told us that they would extend the date to turn in dossiers according to the Non-Hague policies. They are extending this date to 3 November. They will open the 1st week of October and accept dossiers that did not get turned in by the 15th of September deadline.
It seems that IBESR is trying to keep adoptions going in Haiti. They seem to understand that we need a new adoption law approved before they can finish their Hague ratification process.
The lawyer said that they were still working on the law and have “consultants” helping to make it Hague acceptable. My fear is that those “consultants” are UNICEF!
Let’s pray that the law makers in Haiti use common sense and not allow a restrictive law like we have now to be voted upon. I can’t wait to get to see the new law, so we can plan for the future!
