Concert in Johnson City Tennessee
Matthew Huff, an up and coming country music artist, and Micah Shane, a music artist from Florida, put on a great concert. Every one there enjoyed it. Both musicians and their bands came out in support of GLA and Haiti. They put on the concert free f charge, so that the children would benefit!
Many people worked hard to make the concert happen. This is the first time, our office has put on a concert like this. Five cities have contacted RS Express Enterprises asking if we would come to their cities and put on a concert to benefit GLA and the children of Haiti! Our staff learned many things this time and made great contacts. A church of about 2,000 members helped get things ready and we hope that they will send a work team to Haiti to help the mission build or distribute supplies.
The staff also met a Tennessee Congressman who said if GLA ever does another concert in Tennessee that we needed to contact his office. He would try to help us in any way he could!
Unfortunately, due to high heat and lots of other festivals and concerts in Johnson City the same weekend, a large crowd did not come out to enjoy the concert. The fundraising team will be sure to check which weekend would be best for the next concert!
One of our adoptive families from around Nashville came with their 4 children adopted from GLA along with their 3 other children. Eric Noah-Wilson brought the children while Natalie, his wife, had to work that day. The kids got up on the stage and told the audience that the next day was their 3 year anniversary of arriving in the States! They said they were happy and they were a family. Everyone in the crowd had tears in their eyes after listening to them talk!
