“For every house has a builder, but the one who built everything is God.” Hebrews 3:4
Last week was an exceptionally busy one up at Fort Jacques. We were reminded again of how God sends just the right people at just the right time to accomplish the plans He has set forth. Construction has been progressing well on the family cottages, and we got an extra boost from a Canadian team last week. When they showed up to work the first day, we learned that 5 or 6 of the men on the team were contractors who had extensive experience and could help us put up all of the trusses for the two buildings. This was great news! They accomplished so much in the short time they were here. Both buildings now have trusses and plywood installed over the top story, and we are ready to start putting on the roofing. The team also waterproof painted the interior of the buildings on the first floor, which means that we can begin framing walls and placing plumbing and electric. They worked like a well-oiled machine, climbing around fast and fearless at 40 feet above the ground!
At the same time this team was working on the roof, our Haitian crew turned their attention to our new director’s house near the toddler pods. The floor has been poured for this building for a while, but the crew has been spending their time working at the family cottages. Now that their work on those is finished, they have started building the block walls and placing the window and door openings of the director’s house. As long as we are able to have the materials on site, they work very quickly and will have the walls up soon.
Another group of workers spent two days cleaning up broken block and rock to fill in the area between the two cottages that will eventually create a patio area for families to enjoy. They also helped us move blocks from one job site to the other, and they finished building the remaining trusses for the cottages.
We are blessed to have another team in country this week to help us begin the interior work for the family cottages. Skilled teams of electricians, plumbers and carpenters would be helpful! If you are interested in serving, please contact the Colorado office!
