We had a large group of volunteers leave on Friday. So the three visitors who came in on Thursday were put to work sorting shoes and putting together adult hygiene kits.
Friday is Pizza night at GLA. We’ve had the same pizza recipe since before John and I came to Haiti and it is a very good one! Last night was mango and chicken pizza and hot sausage and pepperoni. It was all great!
After supper, we went up on the balcony and one of our visitors taught some of how to dance country style! Many of us participated and even the kids wanted to be part of the fun!
I think they spent 3 hours on the balcony enjoying dancing, visiting together, and just having fun!
Saturday, John and I needed to meet with the engineer who is bidding on building the guesthouse and orphanage foundations. Then in the afternoon, we took bags of donations down to Sean Penn Camp for distribution in the tent city connected to their camp. We took over 100 bags down. Two weeks ago, we had taken over 300 family bags to their camp and wanted to take more since we had about 500 bags ready to go.
This time, the group was able to tour the camp city where about 55,000 refugees are living.I did not go with them this time and they entered into the tent city instead of taking the road directly to Sean Penn’s camp! I am glad they did that because they got to see a lot more than we did last time we were there!
We had another great supper of steak and baked potatoes with avocado that was almost sweet it was so good! Patrick grilled the steak and it was wonderful. We will able to cut it with a table knife! We finished supper with ice cream bars! There were only 19 people here which is a lot less than usual, so we were able to do something special for Saturday night supper. It was so much fun!
