From Surviving to Thriving... Story #3

Jamesly has been with us for quite a while... He came to us January 20, 2013, Dixie wrote a blog about him in late January, 7 new babies in 24 hours and here is a little recap of his story... In January, Jamesly and his mother went to a clinic in Cite Soleil run by Samaritan's Purse. That day we received a call from Samaritan's Purse letting us know that Jamesly needed further care and treatment in more of an "inpatient" setting. They arrived to us January 20th, his mother said he had been vomiting and was not eating well, he weighed just about 7 lbs. He and his mother stayed with us for five days. Jamesly's mother begged for them to go back home and told us she could provide for him, so we sent him home weighing 8lb 5.5oz on January 25th.

January 30th rolled around, just five days after being discharge... He was coming back to us and his weight had gone down to 7lb 3.5oz. Jamesly  seemed as he was even more sick this time; Jamesly's mother said that she tried to feed him boiled plantains once and he vomited so she didn't feed him again. Dixie wrote in here blog "I was upset with the mom because she said nothing to anyone here about not having food for her baby.  If she had, I wouldn’t have let him go home so soon.  Thankfully, she came back to the clinic in Cite Soleil before he was any sicker!"

Jamesly is now about 16 months old and continues to stay with us receiving assistance. It took him a long time to start steadily gaining weight and get over some reflux issues. It has been quite the journey with this little angel. He has fought so hard and overcome many battles. He is now starting to stand and is a healthy and happy little boy. He always has a smile on his face and continues to light up so many peoples lives here at GLA. These pictures really do tell his story of transitioning from Surviving to THRIVING!!!

Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God."

Mark 10:27 NIV
