From Surviving to Thriving... Story #4

October 2012, just a couple weeks before I arrived at GLA, this handsome little guy came in, weighing 14lbs 10oz. His aunt and two of his uncles brought him in after his mother had passed away and they were doing their best to care for him but knew he was not doing well. Severely malnourished, he came to us with sores on his body from lying in bed and from his malnutrition.  Weak and just under two years old, he had no strength to pull himself up, stand or take a step. After months of close attention,  medications, & Medika Mamba; his sores started healing, his weight increased, and his strength multiplied.  Eventually, this sad and worn down child changed more than we could have ever imagined. The pounds were easy to come by but gaining strength in all those tiny extremities took a little longer. His strong-willed personality is undeniable. He knows exactly what he wants and does it when he wants. The strength he now has is amazing, walking all over the place, holding his own with the "big kids". He is also one of the silliest little boys, he loves to play games with the staff and volunteers.  I know seeing his ear-to-ear smile makes all my days brighter. This amazing boy has captured more than a few people's hearts here at GLA. He has fought hard and has transitioned from surviving to THRIVING!

But the Lord stood with me and gave me strength.
