Frozen But Making A Difference

And no I'm not talking about the movie, Frozen.   I'm talking about the artificial turf that is going to go on the playground at the new facilities up at Ft. Jacques.

Two local school systems agreed to donate it back in November.   We had a date set where we were going to get a bunch of high school kids to help us roll the turf into "movable" rolls during the first week of December.

And then it started snowing and froze.   Solid.

And here we are, almost to the end of February and we haven't yet thawed out.

Actually, they are predicting low temperatures in Michigan below zero this week.    So, the turf sits where it was frozen solid, with a hefty coating of ice and snow over it, waiting for spring.

But in the mean time, we're making a difference!

  • There is a growing stack of boxes of diapers filling up my garage.

  • There are two schools who are currently collecting diapers to help us.

  • I've got a stack of gift cards to Walmart, Target, Sam's Club etc. that people have sent in to use to buy diapers.

  • We currently have almost 20% of the cost of shipping the container donated as well.

Are we there yet?   No we aren't.  We are making progress but we've got a ways to go.

How can you help?

  1. Buy diapers - all sizes and send them or have them delivered to God's Littlest Angels c/o Tom Vanderwell  2260 Rosewood St. Jenison, MI 49428
  2. Buy gift cards - to any of the "big box" retailers that sell diapers and send those to me (at the same address).
  3. Make a financial contribution to the shipping costs - send the funds to our Colorado office (or use the "Donate" button at the top) and note that it's for the "michigan container" or the "diaper container" or something like that.

Oh, one other thing you could do - share this with a few other people and ask them to help.  Oh and if you could pray that spring comes to Michigan eventually, that would be awesome too!

On behalf of the kids, thank you for your support,
