Frantina saw her neurosurgeon today, Dr. Sanchez. He said Frantina can return to Haiti and he is very happy with her progress. She showed him how she can stand up now and he was very pleased. He also said she can stop wearing her neck brace, but I think we will leave it on during the day at least for awhile. The orphanage setting can be a little rough with other kids around. I think I will give it the full 6 weeks that he originally told us.
We have a meeting tomorrow with her TB doctor and then hopefully she will be ready to leave on Saturday. She and Vivianne are flying home on a small local regional jet called Tortug Airlines. It’s a 45 minute flight to Haiti and I think that is better for her than a long uncomfortable bus ride!
Please pray that the TB doctor will give us a month supply of her TB medication to take home with us. Knowing Haiti, it might take a while to get her in one of the local Haitian TB programs and I really do not want her to miss any doses of her medication!
We have to return at the end of June to get her biopsy pathology reports, a new CT Scan done, and see the neurosurgeon again. A WHOLE MONTH at home! It will be so nice for all of us!
I worry about Frantina going back into the nursery. She has been so used to having one on one attention. Just like in a family. She has blossomed so much. She talks non-stop and is very engaging. Please pray for her adjustment back into the nursery and that she stays as lively and happy as she is right now! I just pray that her adoption gets completed soon.
