Growing girls: Update on Djulika & Christina!

Hello from the nursery!

Some of you may remember my recent posts about  Djulika & Christina (Click their names if you would like to read their stories); they are the newest and littlest of all the children in the NICU right now. I wanted to give you an update on our two growing girls! Both of them have fought very hard in their short lives and they deserve some praise for doing so well.

Two weekends ago, the same weekend that Christina arrived, we  had a scare with Djulika and her ever growing stomach. After a few days of bowel rest, IV fluids, IV antibiotics and now a special formula our little Djulika is back on track! As of today, Djulika is now weighing in at 5lbs; up from 2lbs 2oz on May 24th!

The first week that Christina was here, was definitely touch and go. She had a GI bleed from the aspirin she was given, along with some type of infection. After many days of IV fluids, IV antibiotics, and IV medications to help stop the bleeding our beautiful Christina continues to grow and grow! Christina is now up to 5lbs 12.5oz; up from 3lbs 3oz on June 19th!

Here are a couple of updated pictures of our littlest ones!

Thank you so much for your continual prayers and encouragement!  It is only by God's grace that they are still with us today. As these two beautiful girls continue to transition from just surviving to thriving, please continue to pray for them and all of the children and staff here at GLA.

Thank you,

-Britany

LORD my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me.

[…] Some of you may remember a few posts about little Christina.. She was brought to us June 20th by Samaritan’s Purse after a family member had given her a “chunk” of aspirin for a fever which in turn caused a GI bleed and further infection. She was on IV antibiotics, fluids and medications for her GI bleed and slowly started getting formula through her NG tube after her GI bleed was healed. I like to call her our miracle baby… really, when you think about it, all of our children our  little miracles. You can read the first blog I wrote about her by clicking on either blog… A busy 24 hrs or Growing Girls. […]
