This year, Haiti was hit by 4 major storms all in a month period. First, Hurricane Fay brought wind and rain to much of Haiti. This was followed by Hurricane Gustave which came from the south and marched over the south-western pennisula and up through Port-au-Prince. The southern part of Haiti was flooded and had lots of wind damage.
Within days, Tropical storm Hannah tore through Haiti with high winds and rain. Houses had roofs torn off and walls and trees came tumbling down. We had 2 days of high winds and rain in our area. Finally, Hurricane Ike passed North of Haiti but dumped lots of rain on the northern half which caused massive flooding.
People lost everything. It is estimated that over 1 million people are homeless due to the storms! Parts of the city of Gonaives might have to be moved, according the Haitian Prime Minister Madame Pierre-Louis. Many families lost everything they owned including birth certificates and land deeds. They have no where to go or any way of taking care of their families.
We need your help in helping some of these families rebuild their homes. You can donate funds to "Rebuild Haiti" with a credit card by clicking here>>>>
