Yes, it’s that time of year again and I am another year older at 9:34 PM tonight! I refuse to be older until I absolutely have to be! When people ask me how old I am, I tell them 45…again! My sons tell people that and everyone knows that is the correct answer! As I get older, I wonder if I shouldn’t raise that number just a bit, but I just like the sound of that number. It has a nice even ring to it, don’t you think?
I definitely feel older. My bones creak a little more than they used to and I wake up with aches and pains that I never had before! I also now have my mother’s hands! When did that happen? One of my sisters argues that SHE has my mother’s hands, but when I look at my hands now, they look just like my mother’s!!!
I started a diet back in October. When I was sick in the States, I could not eat. Nothing tasted good. I could not even drink! The only thing I could drink and keep down was Ginger Ale. Never drank Ginger Ale before in my life, but started to enjoy it! Well, I lost 14 pounds and I thought: Now is the time to lose weight! I already had a good start and I was motivated.
Some of you may remember that I had just started a diet before the January Earthquake. The day of the earthquake, I went off the diet and never could get back on! Well, I have lost 30 pounds since September and that is a wonderful birthday present that I have given to myself! I really notice it in my clothes! Others here tell me they notice it in my face. I also noticed it when I was out walking the road by Fort Jacques and could actually walk up a hill and breath and talk at the same time! LOL
My mother tells me to look on the bright side. She says at least when you are getting older you know you are alive! Someday, I hope I can get to the point where I am proud to tell people my age and how I have earned every wrinkle that I have and wear them proudly! But, I am not there yet and so for this year, I am 45 years old…again!
Thank you so much to everyone that sent “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” messages on Facebook and emails. I am overwhelmed by the number of people that have touched my life and are all over the world!
God has blessed me abundantly and put me right where He wants me to be on this birthday!
