We received a call from Ernst saying that Missionary Flights had called him to tell him that we had frozen food come in on the plane today! We knew nothing about it coming in today. Usually MFI comes on Thursday and with the roads being blocked, we did not figure there was any way it would come this week!
Nobody that we know has room or freezers for this food, so we sent James and Johnny to the airport to pick up the frozen items. They took a big Toyota truck since there is less window space to break if they run into rioters throwing rocks. They also put a GLA Logo sign on their truck so people would think they are carrying children somewhere and maybe leave them alone!
We are afraid that there might be problems as they come back up the mountain in front of President Preval’s house. But there is a back road that they can take that goes around Preval’s house and comes up through the ravine behind the orphanage.
Well, they finally made it back to the orphanage about 4 hours after they left! We kept trying to call and could not get through and so we were worried! But they had stopped and talked to Miss Magaly before coming up the mountain. James said the that they did not see any problems and they were told that people were going to stop the rioting until after the new vote on Monday and then might start again. I hope that American Airlines will go ahead and fly on Saturday and Sunday since it is suppose to be quiet but I do not think that they will. We have been told that all flights are cancelled with American Airlines through Wednesday, 15 December!
Patrick and Holli and the kids made it safely from Fort Jacques to the orphanage. Here are some pictures they took on their trip down the mountain road! In places, trees had been cut down and put on the road to prevent people from getting through. A bulldozer was going up the road clearing the barricades.
