Our Newest Assistance Angel

Yesterday, this beautiful 3 lb 11.5 oz, now 9 day baby girl came to us with her mama for assistance. Little M was referred to us by another organization, her mother is just 16 years old and needs help to care for her first child. Her mother said Little M would not take the breast so she had not fed her for the first week of her life. She can take a bottle, but only takes a little at a time. We are giving her supplemental feeds through the tube in her nose. Mama is working very hard to make milk for her little one, right now she is pumping frequently and we are hoping some good nutrition will help Mama's milk come in more.

Please pray for both mama and baby as they start this new life together.

These two babes (yes at 16 she's still a babe) are blessed to have a facility like yours they can go to. It's heartbreaking that we think it should be instinctual to feed a baby no matter what, but in reality, no matter what age a person is, being a mother is not instinctual. Not only does there need to be education about parenthood, but also all the stages after. Again, thank you for having the caring and loving and skilled facility that you have :)

Hi Judy, As far as we know in this situation, mother and baby will return home where the mother's family is waiting to help take care of both mother and child.
