Callebasse Christian School

Callebasse Christian School has been educating children in the CallebasseOne of the classrooms at Callebasse Christian School. area since 1998.  They focus on children whose families are too poor to afford to pay the tuition at the other schools in the area.  The school only ask the parents to contribute less than $10 USD per school year for the children to attend.  Even with this small amount, only about half of the families can afford to pay.

Nixon and Marie Ange Dorlus run the Callebasse Christian School.  Nixon is the cousin of our adopted son, Steeve.  We have known this family since 1995.  They are an honest Christian family who work hard and have a great passion for the children of Haiti.

Callebasse graduated its first class in June of 2005.  They are almost finished with a building program that will give them more classrooms and a second story on the school.

The new school building at Callebasse Christian School.A Canadian Christian organization called ACWAM (Active Christians with a Mission) has adopted the Callebasse Christian School and has been instrumental in finding sponsors for the children so that some of the school’s needs can be met through monthly donations.  Through individuals that have come to visit the school, donations have been received to help build a new school for the children.  For $20 US or $30 Canadian per month, the school sponsorship program provides a noon meal for the children every day.  It also helps to pay the teachers’ salaries and provide books and learning supplies for the children.Preparing the hot lunch that each child receives every day.
