Rumors and rumors of rumors!!!!!!

Confused smile  OK, the IBESR and UNICEF “proposed law” meeting that was supposed to take place on Thursday, I don’t think happened.  It is difficult to know what is rumor and what is fact.  And what is rumor may just have the wrong dates but will take place eventually!  I would not be surprised if there will be some sort of “secret” meeting where those most affected by the Hague ratification and the new adoption law are not even told it is taking place until after it happens!  They do not want the crèches to know what is happening and I truly believe they want it a done and completed before we can raise a protest!

I received  this info when I wrote an email and asked for more information about the meeting.

“Be it known that there was no such a thing as a meeting of the IBESR-UNICEF
Senators /Congressmen at the the Ministry of Social Affairs regarding the pending new adoption law.” Someone talked to a Senator who knew nothing about it . “The employees said that they knew nothing about the meeting. We can safely conclude that it was simply a rumor”  The email closed with “Still, I encourage all of us to be vigilant and informed on this important issue. Whether or not they choose to invite us, we MUST be there to have first hand information and raise our legitimate questions/concerns.”

I totally agree with this email and encourage anyone that hears any information to notify their creche director so that they can find out if it’s a rumor or something really taking place.  We all know that this situation will eventually take place and we want to be sure that the children, prospective parents, and orphanages are considered in all decisions.

Miss Dixie, We have never met, but God has really laid the people of Haiti on my heart and has led me to your blog. I pray so often for you and everyone at GLA. My heart has been heavy in the last few days after hearing how the laws have been moving. Just read Psalm 118, Exodus 15:2, and John 16:33 in my devotions this morning. Praising God and trusting He holds those precious little ones in the palm of His hand.

Dixie- I want to thank you for all of your hard work in Haiti. So many of us rely on your updates . Is there a way to put pressure on Haiti's government so they will move these adoptions along? Several people have mentioned getting senators and congressman involved to help speed the process up. What are your thoughts on this? Also do you have any updates on presidential dispensations that were signed in Dec. ? THanks - Jennifer
