Sophie is in the arms of Jesus now…

They knocked on my door at 2:30 this morning because Sophie was very bad and was only taking a rare breath.  I arrived downstairs in time to see her last gasping breath!  We knew yesterday that probably she would not survive and I had told the staff to not try to resuscitate her if she continued to worsen.

The staff did a great job caring for Sophie.  I just believe that she had too many problems to survive this in Haiti and I do not know if she would have survived for very long if she had been even in the USA.

Her father came this morning.  He knew how sick she was and he said the mother just could not stay and watch her die.  He asked that we bury her in the local cemetery.  It is so sad to see one of the babies struggle so hard to live and then lose the battle no matter what you do.  I am just thankful that her suffering is over.  Prayer for her mother and father, they are young.

My prayers are with them. Is there anything else we can do for this young mother and father.
