Thank Goodness it is Friday!

What a week I have had!  I so enjoyed arriving home in Haiti on Sunday and then got sick on Tuesday afternoon, again on Wednesday afternoon, and then all day Thursday!  Today I have felt good and got a lot of work done until about 4 PM when all of a sudden my throat got sore and I started having lots of sinus drainage!  Now I have a cough!  The humidity level must be 100% and it was HOT today.  What is going on?

It is like my body is rejecting being back in Haiti!  I am sitting here now drinking a big glass of orange juice.  My staff thinks maybe this will help.  I sure hope so because I am pushing myself to get caught up on work.

There are two journalist photographers here right now who are shooting video and still photos for a short video for fundraising.  So I have got to be able to talk for my interview this weekend.  Please pray that my throat will improve tonight.

All of the volunteers went to Fort Jacques tonight for a wiener roast. (Hot dogs)  so everyone is sitting around a camp fire right now having fun.  I was afraid to go sit outside because of the damp night air making my throat worse than it already is.

A couple more UPDATES on children.

Peterson May 2010 2010-8 copy

Peterson is doing fantastic! He is thriving under Miss Vicky’s special care. Peterson is getting very strong and independent and is even taking 2-3 steps on his own!

Peterson loves to go to church and Bible study because he loves when everyone sings. Peterson is very social and everyone loves him! He is weighing in at almost 15 pounds!

Jude May 2010 2010-10

Jude weighs just over 15 pounds.  He is almost able to sit up now.  He can roll from his front to his back.

Jude is very social.  He needs people to talk to him and he responds well.  He has a wonderful smile when he is happy but also be very fussy when he’s not!  :)

Jude’s mother has come to visit him again but she was supervised the whole time she was here.  We do not trust her to be alone with Jude.  She told a story about attacking Jude’s father’s “girlfriend” at his funeral with a knife!  She is just very immature and does not make wise choices.

Dixie -- Sure hope you're feeling better soon! Thanks for taking the time to share all the updates. The children are thriving at GLA, that's for sure. ( : It is so uplifting to see their photos and read of their accomplishments! I know someone asked about another child, so when you have time, perhaps you can update us on Bene as well? Our blessings to you and all of the GLA staff, volunteers, etc. Everyone is a constant inspiration to us.

Awww Jude--you look fabulous. You make my heart melt. :) Thanks for the update Dixie. Your body needs time to adjust to being in different time zones, different weather elements and different cultures! Praying you feel better soon!
