Time flies…

Time flies when you’re having fun!  Its been so long since Toddler House has been heard from, that its going to take me several days to fill you in on all that has happened…  bear with me as I try my best!

IMG_2740 There has been a secret hidden away in the garage for the last five weeks.  A sure smile winner, crowd pleaser of a secret.  And this morning the inhabitants of Kay B were ready for its unveiling!  Just after breakfast as the smallest kids were coming down for school, and the older ones were yet on the balcony looking one, we slid open the diamond patterned garage door and with bells chiming rolled out not one, not two, but 5 sturdy, IMG_2746polished, bright, tricycles for the kids to ride around on. Exclamations of “awe” echoed off the balcony and little feet rushed for their sandals and pitter-pattered down the stairs and outside to claim the first, second, third, ride, etc.  Except for a brief period during naptime the trikes have been in full use with a verbal agreement waiting list to take turns… everyone’s definition of “in a few minutes” is just a little different, (wink). In order to prevent premature destruction of these new toys we had to give  each physical size/school group/age group regulations about each trikes use.  Certain groups can only use the big metal one, certain groups can use the big metal one or the low riding plastic red ones, and certain groups can use the big metal, low riding plastic, IMG_2743and shiny pink with streamers.  today has been full of learning and remembering in all the new excitement which bikes can be used for which kids. t We also have to limit the number of passengers to 2.  Bright and wonderful children that they are they would love to give numerous friends rides around the yard sharing the time that they have a turn on the trike…  a jump rope was also used as a tow rope to  bring the skate board passengers along behind.  Creative and ingenious little ones, nannies and teachers alike were quite entertained watching them discover the many uses for their new modes of recreation and transportation…. yes, they can carry groceries from the car to the house door!  Thanks Dixie for selecting and ordering in the BEST most suitable wheels for Kay B!

wow - this takes me back to a day almost exactly 3 years ago when I visited Kay B and had 2 trikes and 2 scooters with me (disassembled in my suitcases, then reassembled by John) it was sooo much fun watching the kids play with them then. wonder how many trikes GLA has gone through since then? what a blessing you are to so many children!! thank you for the work you do serving the children of Haiti.
