Waiting it out…

calendar I know Dixie is keeping everybody updated on her blog, but just thought I’d confirm that all is well at Toddler House.  no thru traffic

The teachers weren’t able to make it through the barricades Wed, Thurs, of Fri but Joyce has had English classes as normal.  The kids have enjoyed their extra free time, though Yvenson headed out to wait by the gate three times on Friday morning expecting mademoiselle Kiki to come at any moment and walk up to Pre-School. It took Gwo Mama and I both to convince him otherwise.

Other than that, we’ve been rationing wash water, portioning food, cooking propane, and running the generator for less time to conserve diesel.  Our nannies made it tomoto with driver work, with much added effort on foot and motorcycle  to get through barricades, all but Wednesday so have kept to most of their normal shifts.

peace hand whiteAnd normal is pretty much how I would describe our days, while the rest of Haiti has been fighting for their rights, protesting the injustices, and trying to better their nation as a whole.  I wish them success in their peaceful efforts, and pray  that they keep their eyes on their goal and do not revert to destruction of private property and violence to one another.
