Today in school the 4-6 year olds were learning the story of how Jesus told his disciples not to hold back the children from being with Him. Joyce read the verses to them and then explained what it meant. They talked about how much Jesus loves each one of them, and then the class went through and declared, “Jesus love _______” each one of them inserting their names.
When the story was over some questions arose.
“Is Jesus coming back for us?”
“Yes, yes, He’ll come back one day and take you home with Him.”
“But aren’t we going to be adopted to other countries? How will He know where we are?”
“Jesus is everywhere. He will always be with you, in any country you are in, in any house you are in, wherever you are He is inside of you. He loves you so much He will never leave you.”
Satisfied smiles quieted the room for a moment as the kids thought about this… and then slowly soft discussion sparked amongst themselves which Joyce stepped back and let play out on its own without interference.
Widley, with furrowed brow asks: “ Will I get to pick out what clothes I want to wear when I go?”
Self-confident Minoucar quickly replies, “Yes, I think so. What are you going to wear?”
“Oh something very nice. I am going to put on some very beautiful clothes and look wonderful when I meet Jesus.”
Coming out of her thoughts and joining the conversation Nephtalie pipes up, “When I see Jesus I am going to give him a big kiss, because I love Him so much!”
“Oh, Oh, I am going to run to Him, jump into His arms an give Him such a big hug,” Montesquieu decided emphatically.
“I am going to ask Jesus if I can live in His house with Him,” Minoucar declared. The other nodding that they would like that too.
“Heaven is going to be so nice,” Edelyne exclaimed.
Laurore who has till this point sat listening inserted, “Yeah, Heaven is going to be GREAT!! I am going to eat spaghetti and rice!”
13 Then little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them.
14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
