Just after the Christmas Holiday, we received a surprise visit from Rocky and Marla MUNRO who live in Alberta, Canada. They had adopted two children in 1999 named Tia and Jean Nixon (Tyrone). Tia is now 17 years old and in her last year of high school. She says she would like to be a nurse. Tyrone is in grade 10.
Then in 2010, they were in the process of adopting Moustapha (Izak) and Melissa (Isla) when the earthquake struck. The children were evacuated to Canada shortly afterwards. Izak is now in grade 2 and Isla is in grade 1.
They came to Haiti to visit some friends in Cabaret and the children wanted to come and see the orphanage where they had lived part of their lives. The children have grown so much. Tia resembles her baby photos but all of the other children have really changed.
They came the day that the Toddler House children were celebrating Christmas. So they really enjoyed meeting and visiting with the older children at Fort Jacques. Then they followed me back to the main house and played with babies for a while. Like most people that visit, they all fell in love with the babies and wanted to put one in their suitcase and take them home with them!
It is so much fun to see children come back to the orphanage after they have been adopted. To get a chance to see them grow and mature and just what kind of people they have become! It’s fun to watch their faces as they see other children in the orphanage and you know they want to hug them and give them some of the love that they have received themselves!
I can’t express how much I enjoyed seeing them! It made my heart full of emotion to see them and talk to them!
Thank you, Jesus for allowing me to see these almost grown children coming back to Haiti searching for their roots. What a blessing this is for all of us working at GLA!
