Illionson went home to his family! We will miss this sweet boy and his beautiful smile, but it is such a joy to see happy endings like this one. Illionson has had many challenges in his little life. He is such a strong, determined, happy little boy! He was born with a cleft lip and palate as well as deformities on his hands and leg from amniotic banding syndrome. When Illionson’s parents first brought him to GLA, they were not sure if they would be able to care for him due to these challenges and were considering giving him up. When his papa learned that we could help his son receive surgical treatment and that he would be able to keep him, he was overjoyed. We were able to work with the fabulous LEAP team to get Illionson’s cleft lip repaired in November 2014, and his parents brought him back for his cleft palate repair in May 2015.
We kept Illionson here at GLA to recover from surgery, then a little while longer while we were waiting to get a brace for his foot so he could learn to walk correctly. We had not heard from his parents over the summer, and were beginning to be concerned. Illionson’s papa especially had come to visit him frequently in the past and obviously loved his little boy a lot. Last week Illionson’s papa came back to GLA and shared with us that he hadn’t been able to come in a long time because they had had another baby and he was needed at home. This is baby boy #8 for their family! What a full house!
Please pray for this sweet boy and his family. Pray for their adjustment back into life together; pray that God will continue to provide for the family. Illionson has an incredible story, and he’s not even 2 years old yet! God must have some pretty big plans for him!
The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy! Psalm 126:3
