Please Pray for Haiti

The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
Psalm 9:9-10

Dear GLA family,

After the assasination of the president this summer, insecurity in Haiti has been escalating at a fast rate. Living in Haiti has become a struggle and people are trying to just survive each day. Doing things that are usually mundane are now considered life threatening, such as traveling to and from work, attending church, grocery shopping, going to the hospital, or even picking up your loved ones. People are highly stressed wondering if they will arrive safely or if they will be potential victims of a kidnapping or be caught in the crosshairs of an angry mob.

At GLA we are concerned about the dire situation the country of Haiti is in but we continue to trust the Lord for guidance and strength. We know He is the One keeping us safe and providing for our daily needs. Some of our staff have been unable to come into work because of how bad the situation is. Our nannies are staying at GLA because it’s not safe to travel home. In preparation for the shutdown of the country, GLA was able to stock up on essentials such as food and water. Fruit and bread are not available now, but we are making due with what we have. We continue to ration our diesel and propane usage, which supplies our generators for electricity. We are unsure how long this shutdown will last and are living day by day.

Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
Romans 8:18

Please pray for our team here at GLA, for our staff and children, and for the country of Haiti. Here is what we see happening just outside of our gates:

  • Fuel distribution has stopped due to tanker trucks on strike because of the risk of being robbed, kidnapped, or killed.
  • Hospitals are shutting down because they do not have fuel to run their generators.
  • Food prices are skyrocketing because of the fuel crisis and gang controlled roads preventing distribution to the markets.
  • Internet service providers are unreliable because the cell companies can not operate without fuel for their generators.
  • Roads are unsafe to travel because of gangs, rioting, roadblocks, and burning tires.
  • Schools, stores, businesses, and public transportation are all shut down for fear of being killed or kidnapped.

We need your prayers and support as we continue caring for the children here at GLA.

Serving Him,

Creche Director
