God’s Littlest Angels

The Babies at GLA Need Your Help…

We need your help to pay our bills.  It is difficult for me to write that sentence but it’s true and we are having a difficult time paying our electric, water, propane for cooking, diesel for the generators and our other bills that are due.  Your donations are what keep God’s Littlest Angels functioning.

You are the reason we can take in three premature babies who all are in incubators right now. Two of them are on oxygen.  When we take these babies, it’s not just the babies we take in but their mothers or aunts come with them to stay. Those are extra mouths to feed and extra water is used.

This is our ministry to care for the premature, abandoned and malnourished children of Haiti

We must take in the premature babies because there are no empty beds for these babies in Port-au-Prince right now.  I feel awful when we have to refuse a premature baby.  But last night we had to tell the ambulance service we were full because we had no beds and it was too difficult to get another incubator out of storage and down to the NICU at 9:30 PM last night!  So that baby went to a private hospital in Port-au-Prince that charges a lot of money to care for a premature baby and most parents cannot pay the costs.

Right now, we have 48 babies.  Three are premature, nine are for assistance, and twenty-one are abandoned.  It is very emotionally draining when I hear on social media that GLA is only in Haiti to do adoptions.  That is so far from the truth.  We started as a nutritional center, then as children were abandoned at the center, we started doing adoptions.  But in 2016, we completed 3 adoptions!  Only 3…

People might say, “But you are building things, why don’t you have funds to pay your bills?” We have people who have donated just toward the building fund.  Unfortunately, those funds under IRS designated giving rules must go toward building.  They can’t be used to buy medicine, formula for the babies, or to buy things that keep GLA running.

We need your help desperately.  We have very little money. One check came today as a donation to our Colorado Office.  Can you please reach out to us and help us care for these children?

In times of uncertainty, I fall back on the verse below. I know that God choose all of us here at GLA to come to Haiti and do His work with the children and that God is watching over us. God thankfully gives us all different talents and gifts.  Wouldn’t it be a boring and a limited world if we were all the same?  I never questions someone’s calling that God has given them. Who are we to question God’s paths He wants each of us to walk?  I just know know my path today.  God may change that path tomorrow and I need to be His servant and give Him control of my life.  My path today and for the last 25 years is to serve in Haiti and help the children and families who come to our gate.

“You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.”      John 15:16
