Happy New Years Eve! We pray that 2015 is a wonderful year for all of you and we wish you lots of peace and God’s blessings in your lives!
We thought it would be fun to give you a few statistics for GLA for 2014. It’s always fun and sometimes a little scary to look back and see what has happened for the last year. Let’s see how many diapers we have used, can of baby formula, cost of the food that we have eaten, and the number of adoptions done in 2014!
Adoptions Completed: 32
New Children Matched: 3
Children Received into the orphanage: 43
Of those 43 children 24 were for assistance and returned home to their families so 56% of the children helped returned home to their biological families.
Today we have 41 children at the Main House and 34 children at the Toddler House.
Teams who came in 2014: 21 (179 persons total)
Single Volunteers who came in 2014: 120
Supplies Used in 2014:
Diapers: 80,000 which is 2,000 per child!
Baby Formula: 2565 Cans
Peanut Butter: 26 gallons for the children only! Not counting for the adults here.
Powdered Milk 2500 gm cans: 546 cans which makes about 20 liters of liquid milk each!
Bleach: 300 gallons
Toilet Bowl Cleaner: 400 gallons
Disinfectant: 520 gallons
Large 30 gallons trash bags: 10,000!
Food eaten in 2014:
Daily Average number of children/staff (Haitian and foreign) eating at GLA: 145
Corn Flakes: 1300 large boxes
Ground Hamburger: 2300 pounds
Cubed Beef: 1700 pounds
Pork: 850 pounds
Chicken: 5760 pounds
Hot Dogs: 3744 packages with 10 hotdogs in each package
Cooking Oil: 700 gallons
Sacks of Rice: 104 sacks 100 pounds each sack
Our food and household cleaning supplies are a large part of our budget. We feed not only visitors but all of the staff working each day and the children. As I have compiled this list, even I was amazed at the amounts of food/supplies used. That is a lot of meat but the amount each person receives is minimal when you consider that approximately 145 people eat at GLA each meal.
We are so thankful to God for providing for the children. God is the one who keeps them healthy and He gives us the strength to care for the ones who are sick. We are very thankful for all of you who pray for GLA, the children and the staff. And we want to thank so many of you who have helped GLA through a financial donation or a donation of needed items. You are our partners in the work – All of you. Thank You for making 2014 a great year and please remember to keep the children and GLA in your prayers for 2015.
Wishing you all a Happy New Years!
